I’ve noticed that there are two terms floating around which mean the same thing, hosted IP PBX and hosted VoIP PBX. But which is better? Let’s get to the bottom of this now.
Why call it Hosted VoIP PBX?
Hosted VoIP PBX has been the accepted term for some time now. It’s established, people know it and it has VoIP in it. Now VoIP obviously stands for Voice over Internet Protocol. So it suggests within the term that one of them main purposes of this system is to project your voice over the Internet.
There is a misconception that if you have a good VoIP phone your calls will sound perfect. While this does play a role, it is important to realize that your hosted VoIP PBX and the components which go into making that service successful are equally important.
Bandwidth
This issue is pretty clear to most people. Bandwidth is the rate of data transfer which your Internet service provider enables.
As the size of the VoIP phone industry increases, so does the amount of phone options available to consumers. Choosing the right phone out of the pool can be difficult, but if you focus on these points you are sure to select an option which will work well for you and your business.
VoIP phone displays come in a variety of sizes. Ask yourself if you want a large display, small display, medium display, or if you even care?
BlackBerry, Google Android and the iPhone all offer different pros and cons to those developing applications to integrate with hosted VoIP PBX systems. So how do they all match up when compared to each other?
Joe Schiavone, director of sales at FreedomVoice, is one of our favorite people around here. He’s always quick with a joke or funny phrase, and his knowledge of VoIP and hosted VoIP PBX systems is unmatched. With 18 years of telecom experience, Schiavone has been a major driving force behind the success of FreedomIQ. Now people have the opportunity to hear from him at a very special industry event.
Joe Schiavone will be sitting on the Winning the Battle for SMB VoIP panel January 21, 2010 from 8:30am to 9:15am at the ITEXPO taking place at the Miami Beach Convention Center, Miami, FL. This is one panel discussion you don’t want to miss! It’s getting so much exposure that Joe was recently featured in a Q&A with none other than TMCnet CEO Rich Tehrani!

We’re constantly pushing the envelope to build a better, faster, and stronger technology for our customers, and we love to hear feedback on how we’re doing. But today I thought I’d share different source of inspiration – one of the more peculiar, mildly-aggravating, but mostly hilarious signs that you’re doing something right:
When “competitors” – and I use that term loosely – steal your entire copyrighted website.

As hosted VoIP PBX fans we love Internet and tech news. So in this vein, we get jazzed about releases from giants like Google.
On 12/03/2009, Google announced the release of a new tool, Google Public DNS, and it has all of us fidgeting in our seats.
So what is it! Well, without getting too technical, DNS means Domain Name System. DNS is an important part of a hosted VoIP phone system. A hosted PBX phone, like those used with FreedomIQ, use DNS to resolve the address associated with the servers that the phones register with. While it is important in hosted VoIP PBX, it is also a very important for the Internet as a whole.
