On July 9, 2009, FreedomVoice created a blog post titled, “21 VoIP News Sites, Which is #1?” The blog post asked visitors to cast a vote for their top 3 favorite VoIP news sites by leaving comments on the blog. The response was overwhelming and we received far more votes than we ever anticipated.
Well, now the results are in. The top 3 VoIP new sites are…
3rd Place – GigaOM

The GigaOM Network of sites provides one of the leading daily online news reads for the key influencers in the emerging technology market place. People mentioned that they liked GigaOM because it is a site they “can actually use.” They also mentioned that the site does not make you “filter through the bulk of information out there” and provides “a clean, concise update of what’s news.” Cory Darla even went so far as to say that he “loves GigaOM.”
2nd Place – TMCnet

Technology Marketing Corporation (TMC), based in Norwalk, CT and founded in 1972, is a leading business to business and integrated marketing media company, servicing niche markets within the communications and technology industries. User said they like TMCnet simply because it is the site they “checkout most.” Some listed TMCnet with no explanation at all, as if it was a given that it would be their favorite. However, Geoff Love seemed to sum it up best when he said, “They have good content and are very timely.” What else do you need in a VoIP news site?

As a leading source of insider information and updated news in the IP Communications industry, Fierce VoIP has been recognized by this blog as being the premier VoIP news site.
Hilary (Bigelow) Tomasson said, “Fierce VoIP works for me.”
Paul Kelly described the site as being one of his favorites because it is, “clean and concise.”
Overall, Fierce VoIP has done an amazing job delivering engaging news when it counts. FreedomVoice would like to congratulate Fierce VoIP on being such a dedicated and informative VoIP news outlet. The site has earned a loyal readership through quality journalism, all of which is well deserved.
FreedomVoice would also like to congratulate runners up TMCnet and GigaOM. Both sites are excellent VoIP news outlets. We would also like to mention that sites VoIP Monitor, No Jitter, VoIP Planet, and VoIP-News were close runners up in this contest, coming in just a few votes behind the top 3 VoIP news sites.
