2010 is here and the hosted VoIP sector of the business VoIP industry is forecasted to grow at an alarming rate. So what does this mean for the future of VoIP phones?
The bottom line is the VoIP phone market is going boom and continue to grow, no question about it. End users are always looking for better options, cheaper calls and a reliable business VoIP system that can be upgraded easily without spending thousands of dollars on new hardware every few years. People want the best and they want it fast. VoIP phones are no exception.
One of the key components to the success of VoIP phones for business VoIP systems is the ability to upgrade software. Remember those old PSTN handsets that were outdated as soon as you bought them? Not with VoIP handsets. Pioneers like Polycom develop solid phones that are completely customizable and have the ability to be upgraded to take advantage of new features. Of course, Polycom isn’t the only VoIP phone company that is starting to surface. There are plenty of competitors popping up in the market; this is great news for the end business VoIP users.
The future of VoIP phones will ultimately come down to the mobile market. One company in particular that surprised me was Apple, who grossed 15.6 billion dollars just by specializing their product line in the mobile market with laptops and handheld computers.
So what does this have to do with the future of VoIP phones? As you can see, the market is very lucrative. Devices like the iPhone and Google’s Android are all supporting VoIP applications. So as these large companies show exceeding profit potential, VoIP phone makers will start to follow suit.
Ultimately the future of VoIP phones is a very bright and the possibilities are endless. It will be exciting to see what the market brings as far as technology. I think as new technology starts to roll out throughout this year and years to come, we will find better ways to save money and reduce the cost of calls, thus providing a broader market for new and exciting devices.
